Free relaxing sounds. Your own space.
Sometimes you want a break from noise. Sometimes silence itself is hard to sit with. HushEscape is a personal sound space: choose a landscape and mix a background for work, study, meditation or rest. It is a personal, independent project, free for everyone.

Free rain, ocean, forest and fire sounds
Rain on glass offers a continuous background, while a thunderstorm adds thunder and flashes. Explore forest wind, tropical rain, sea and seagulls, a rainy drive, a train journey or a campfire at night. Each has a different character. Try a few and choose what you enjoy, without creating an account.
Use the mixer to change individual sound levels. Turn birds down, bring the water forward or build your own balance. This is not a music playlist: you choose the sound landscape and its layers.
Sway: bring your soundscape to life
With Sway, sounds drift gently and your landscape changes as you listen. A more living background to settle into.
Background sounds for studying and concentration
For work, reading or studying, try a landscape you find unobtrusive. Adjust the individual layers under Sounds and save the combination as a personal preset. There is no single correct mix: adapt it to your activity and preferences.
If the image distracts you, turn off the scene while keeping the audio. You can also share the soundscape with other devices: see the shared-session section for instructions.
Nature sounds for meditation, relaxation and rest
For a break or your own meditation practice, choose nature sounds without music, announcements or advertising breaks. Adjustable visuals accompany the landscapes: brightness, warmth and movement let you adapt the atmosphere.
The fade timer gradually lowers audio, the screen or both over your chosen duration. Use it when you want the background to fade as you rest. There are no imposed sessions or programmes: you decide when to start, switch scenes and stop.
A sound space for people living with tinnitus, too
People living with tinnitus, or who find silence uncomfortable, may look for a companion sound rather than a completely silent room. HushEscape provides customisable backgrounds without claiming that a particular sound suits everyone.
HushEscape is not a medical device, therapy or tinnitus treatment. It does not promise a cure or symptom reduction. Speak to a healthcare professional about tinnitus or listening choices for your individual circumstances. This site offers a sound environment you can choose freely.
Use HushEscape like an app on your phone or computer
HushEscape is a Progressive Web App. In supported browsers, install it from the browser menu or the installation button when available. On iPhone or iPad, open it in Safari, choose Share and Add to Home Screen. On Android and desktop, look for Install app or Add to Home Screen in your browser.
Installation needs no subscription. Background playback, a locked screen and offline availability depend on your browser and operating system; new sounds need an internet connection. On slower televisions, choose Low quality or Off · video.
Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes. All features are available without subscriptions, ads or premium tiers. Optional contributions do not unlock benefits or change access.
Do I need an account?
No. Start listening in the player. Personal presets stay in your browser, and you can export and import them under Preferences.
Can I mix and save sounds?
Yes. Choose a landscape, open Sounds and adjust the levels. Save a preset to keep that combination and export it to transfer it to another browser.
What is Sway and how does it work?
Sway gently raises and lowers individual sound volumes, each at its own pace. Changes stay close to your chosen levels rather than growing louder over time. Enable it in Landscapes or for individual sounds and choose your preferred intensity. Adjusting a volume manually stops Sway only for that sound. Save your combination in a personal preset.
Are there timers and shared controls?
Yes. The fade can affect audio, screen or both. In a shared session, every device can set it and change the shared controls.
Is it an app to treat tinnitus?
No. It is an ambient listening project, without diagnosis, therapy or guaranteed clinical results.
Does installation cost money?
No. Installing the PWA in a compatible browser is free, just like listening on the website.
How do light and dark modes work?
Your selected mode applies to the interface and standard landscapes. Personal presets retain their saved appearance even when you change modes.
How do I connect several devices?
Open the site on each device and join the same session using its QR or invitation code. Connect up to 4 devices in total, all with equal controls. Select the connected-device count to see the list, invite another device or leave.
What is the difference between the two volumes?
Session volume adjusts the overall level for everyone. Volume on this device is a local multiplier: session changes preserve your individual device proportions. Mute this device silences only that device, which can still control the session.
Why does a connected device not play immediately?
The browser may require you to select Play on this device. During loading, wait for the sounds and scene to be ready. If a resource fails, use Retry in the error message. Network and audio output can affect alignment between devices.
How do I report a problem?
Open Report a problem next to the PayPal button. Opening the form saves a technical session log privately on the server, accessible only through administration and retained for 30 days. It includes loading, errors, quality and FPS, excluding credentials and access codes. It is not an email attachment. You can also describe the problem in the form.
Can I use HushEscape on Alexa?
The first skill release is in Italian, with the invocation name Fuga dal Silenzio. Visit hushescape.com/alexa.html for publication status and phone pairing. The phone controls the mix; use the Echo controls for speaker volume.
